Our Residents’ Christmas Fayre at The Cambridgeshire Care Home was a truly delightful occasion, an elegant and joyful celebration that brought the spirit of the season to life.
The home was transformed into a welcoming, festive setting, filled with seasonal décor, gentle Christmas music, and the hum of conversation as residents, families, and guests gathered to enjoy the day. There was a wonderful sense of occasion throughout, with a calm, unhurried atmosphere that allowed everyone to fully savour the experience.
We were pleased to welcome a carefully selected collection of local businesses and independent artisans, who hosted beautifully presented craft stands around the home. Their handcrafted gifts, festive decorations, and thoughtful creations added a touch of charm and sophistication to the fayre, offering residents and families the opportunity to browse at leisure while supporting the local community.
Festive Fundraising That Brings Our Community Together
Alongside the celebrations, residents came together to support causes close to their hearts through a festive fundraising initiative held as part of our Christmas party.
Our much-loved Hamper Raffle, also known as a Tricky Tray, was once again a highlight of the season. Thanks to the generosity of residents, families, friends, and staff, we raised an impressive £721 for charity. A total of 25 beautifully prepared festive hampers were created, each filled with a wonderful selection of donated gifts, and eagerly raffled on the day.
The funds raised will be shared between four charities chosen by our residents ,organisations that hold particular meaning within our community:
- The Sick Children’s Trust, supported by residents for the past four years
- Teenage Cancer Trust
- Cancer Research UK
- Alzheimer’s Research UK, supported alongside our ongoing dementia awareness work delivered in partnership with Chris Elsley, Dementia Trainer from Caring Homes, who hosts Dementia Awareness Sessions for families and the local community at The Cambridgeshire Care Home
Fundraising events such as these reflect the compassion, generosity, and sense of purpose shared by our residents, and we are incredibly proud to support causes that make a genuine difference.

For our residents, the fayre was about more than festivities alone. It was a chance to enjoy meaningful moments, reconnect with loved ones, engage in conversation, and take pleasure in a familiar seasonal tradition. Seeing residents so relaxed, engaged, and at ease throughout the day was a true highlight for our team.
Seasonal refreshments were enjoyed alongside the gentle sounds of Christmas, creating a warm, refined setting where everyone could reflect and share the occasion.
